The whole exchange was oddly and incredibly heartening, even the kiss that caught him by surprise and had him tensing briefly before having to manually unlock his joints again to relax, something he had to focus on, too ready to run after something like that even despite the call of 'get it!' from one of Charles' new friends, and a thumbs-up from another, something that had him blushing slightly, but ultimately just shaking his head with a huff of amusement.
