He considered, just briefly, having already determined that it was -more than likely- a feature of, or near, the caves, "Is the location of natural or of supernatural importance?" He would ask those questions separately if needed, but the cat had been generous with his answers so far, he figured it was worth a shot to ask both at once.
Sure, it might just be some interestingly-shaped rocks, but it might also be some kind of ley line configuration, or an actual gnome village, though he doubted that one, not unless the gnomes in question had gotten incredibly lost sometime previously.
