technicallyhellbound: (one (1) entire feeling)

That purr probably shouldn't have been as much of a surprise as it was, given the givens, namely: that the Cat King was, in fact, a Cat. But even so it was still a surprise, if an unexpectedly pleasant one.

For obvious reasons, Edwin was generally cautious around cats, and didn't often -certainly not in recent memory- try to pet them, and even if he did, it was rarer still to get a purr, he'd always assumed that the fact of his being a ghost probably meant his touch felt a little like static, or perhaps that he was rubbing fur the wrong way even when he wasn't.

Which was part of the -but certainly not the whole- reason that he curled his arms just a little closer around the Cat, one hand sliding up to the middle of his back, keeping him close, as it seemed that he needed the touch more than he'd let on when asking for it, and while there was a chance that it was all a ploy, the request alone, not even counting the reactions otherwise, had felt genuine enough. More than that, Edwin was doing his best not to be suspicious of every request the Cat made, if only because that kind of constant suspicion said more about his character than it did about the Cat's.
